Toshiba International Corporation’s Motors & Drives Division has recently expanded its online digital parts catalog to include medium-duty motors and drives. Built by CADENAS, these digital product models were frequently requested by design engineers seeking accurate 3D CAD representations of Toshiba products for large scale projects. Now engineers have quick and easy online access to the digital data they need, accelerating design times while building accuracy into their projects.

Toshiba International Corporation (TIC), a leader in the design and manufacture of motors, adjustable speed drives, controls and other power electronics products, originally launched its most popular products for download via the digital parts catalog in 2009. Their plan was to continually grow and improve the catalog, adding more specialized products year by year. By including the medium-duty product families, TIC is making it easier for more engineers to configure, download, and purchase the components they need.

Toshiba Medium-duty drives are used in a broad cross-section of industries, with applications including Oil & Gas, Mining and OEM equipment.

“Originally, we made our most popular products available for digital download, and received a lot of traction,” says Joe Hanna, Marketing Development Manager for the Toshiba Motors & Drives Division. “As time went on, we received many requests for more specialized products to be available in the same way. Engineers of large OEM products and industrial projects want the same convenience as other designers. They need that same quick turn-around you can only get with an on-demand digital catalog.”

TIC selected CADENAS to supply its online product configurator due to the flexible implementation and vast selection of file formats available for customers to download. With more than 100 formats available, CADENAS has one of the widest selections in the industry with native outputs to all major CAD systems, including Autodesk AutoCAD®, Autodesk Inventor® and Revit®, SolidWorks®, Solid Edge®, PTC Wildfire® and CREO®, Siemens NX®, CATIA®, and more.

“The goal today for every company is to be ‘easy’ to do business with,” says Jay Hopper, COO of CADENAS PARTsolutions LLC, a member of CADENAS group. “Ease of doing business is essential for both sides of the transaction. Manufacturers and service providers want to be the easiest to work with because their customers not only expect it, they demand it. By continually building out their catalog, Toshiba has become ‘easy to work with’ for another major industry segment.”
