7.9.3.13. Modify -> Crop (part 2)

Modify -> Crop [Trim] grouped (part 2)

	Note
When filleting models that are dimensioned in inches, the fillet may not be visible when the 3D model is transferred to a CAD program because the inch value is too small. To avoid this, you can call up the identification details [Identification data] in PARTdesigner and set the unit of measurement [Measure unit] to INCH/100. If you have already worked with a different unit of measurement, the system will ask you whether the existing values should be converted.

Note

Create fillets

Radius with 2 elements
Create a fillet between two lines.
Example 1
1. Select first line/circle [Select first line/circle]
2. Choose second line/circle [Choose second line/circle]
  -> An arc is attached to the cursor.
3. Select radius [Choose radius]: Determine the radius [Radius] of the arc by positioning the mouse cursor.
4. If necessary, adjust the exact radius [Radius] in the Edit element window.
The arc is tangent to the lines.

Rounding on 2 elements [Radius with 2 elements] - Radius: 3

Fillet between line and circle

	In addition to the option inside the sketch described here there is a simplified method in the 3D view to create fillets. See Section 7.6.2.12, “ Blend ( add chamfer/rounding...) ”.

Create chamfers

Chamfer at 2 lines defined by angle at distance from intersection [Chamfer at 2 lines defined by angle at distance from intersection]
Chamfer between 2 lines, adjustable via the angle [Angle] to the first selected line or a distance [Distance] defined as shown in the figure below.
1. Choose chamfer start on first line [Choose chamfer start on first line]
2. Choose chamfer end on second line [Choose chamfer end on second line]
3. Determine the exact distance [Distance] and angle [Angle] in the Edit element window.
Chamfer at 2 lines defined by angle at distance from intersection [Chamfer at 2 lines defined by angle at distance from intersection]
Chamfer at 2 lines defined by angle and chamfer length [Chamfer at 2 lines defined by angle and chamfer length]
Chamfer between 2 lines, adjustable via angle on first selected line (counterclockwise) and length of chamfer.
Example 1
1. Choose chamfer start on first line [Choose chamfer start on first line]
2. Choose chamfer end on second line [Choose chamfer end on second line]
3. Determine the distance [Distance] (chamfer length) and angle [Angle] in the Edit element window.
Example 2 (the lines are clicked in reverse order)
1. Choose chamfer start on first line [Choose chamfer start on first line]
2. Choose chamfer end on second line [Choose chamfer end on second line]

3. Determine the distance [Distance] (chamfer length) and angle [Angle] in the Edit element window.

Feed length
Chamfer between 2 lines adjustable via angle on first selected line (counterclockwise) and distance between chamfer and intersection of both lines.

Note
The feed length refers to the line selected first.

Example 1
1. Choose chamfer start on first line [Choose chamfer start on first line]
2. Choose chamfer end on second line [Choose chamfer end on second line]
3. Determine the distance [Distance] (feed length) and angle [Angle] in the Edit element window.
  
  Example 2 (the lines are clicked in reverse order)
  1. Choose chamfer start on first line [Choose chamfer start on first line]
  2. Choose chamfer end on second line [Choose chamfer end on second line]
  3. Determine the distance [Distance] (feed length) and angle [Angle] in the Edit element window.
Chamfer centered at 2 lines defined by distance to intersection [Chamfer centered at 2 lines defined by distance to intersection]
45° chamfer between 2 lines, adjustable via the chamfer's distance to the (imaginary) intersection of both lines.
1. Select first line:
2. Select second line [Choose second line]:
  (The sequence does not make a difference.)
3. Select distance above point [Select distance by point]: Click anywhere in the area of the chamfer to be created.
4. In the input field under Spacing [Distance], adjust the desired spacing in the Edit element docking window.
5. Optional: It is also possible to place the chamfer outside the outlined body:
  Activate or deactivate the checkboxes under Invert page 1 [Invert side 1] and Invert page 2 [Invert side 2] accordingly.
Chamfer centered at 2 lines defined by chamfer length [Chamfer centered at 2 lines defined by chamfer length]
45° chamfer between 2 lines, adjustable via the length of the chamfer.

3. Select distance above point [Select distance by point]: Click anywhere in the area of the chamfer to be created.
4. Determine the exact length of the chamfer in the Edit element window.
5. Optional: It is also possible to place the chamfer outside the outlined body:
  Activate or deactivate the checkboxes under Invert page 1 [Invert side 1] and Invert page 2 [Invert side 2] accordingly.
Chamfer centered at 2 lines defined by chamfer height [Chamfer centered at 2 lines defined by chamfer height]
45° chamfer between 2 lines, adjustable via the chamfer's length of indentation.

4. Determine the exact feed length in the Edit element docking window.
5. Optional: It is also possible to place the chamfer outside the outlined body:
  Activate or deactivate the checkboxes under Invert page 1 [Invert side 1] and Invert page 2 [Invert side 2] accordingly.
chamfer in the middle of 2 lines across 2 feed lengths [Chamfer centered at 2 lines with 2 distances]:
1. Select the feature chamfer centered on 2 lines over 2 feed lengths [Chamfer centered at 2 lines with 2 distances].
2. Select first line:
3. Select second line [Choose second line]:
  (The order makes no difference.)
4. Select distance via point [Select distance by point]: Determine the distance 1 [Distance 1] and distance 2 [Distance 2] in the Edit element docking window.
5. Optional: It is also possible to place the chamfer outside the outlined body:
  Activate or deactivate the checkboxes under Invert page 1 [Invert side 1] and Invert page 2 [Invert side 2] accordingly.
