The CADENAS Design Manual (CDM) aims to provide all eCATALOG 3Dfindit users with the most important points regarding the creation of specific products.
A bearing / cylinder / linear module / etc. of “Company A” should be generally executed in an equal way as a same product of “Company B”. In cooperation with our customers and in regular meetings of the CDM / QA-working group, we have collected the most important specifications.
Since the users of electronic product catalogs expect such a uniform structure and function of the catalogs, the observance / implementation of the details specified in the CDM also represents an essential quality feature.
The CDM is structured hierarchically - there are specifications that apply to all product areas, but also others that only apply to plant construction, for example. The last level contains "specialties" that only apply to a specific manufacturer (e.g. coloring).
In principle, this guideline should be freely accessible to all eCATALOG 3Dfindit users (all catalog manufacturers) - with the exception of the manufacturer specialties section mentioned above, which may also contain company know-how. This will of course only be treated internally / confidentially.
To create the content, we draw on the requirements of our customers (on the supplier and customer side) as well as our many years of experience in the creation of electronic product catalogs. More than 85% of the catalogs are created by CADENAS as a service. However, the number of "external" eCATALOG 3Dfindit users is also continuously increasing and we would like to support these users in particular with our CDM.
The CDM requires (advanced) knowledge of eCATALOG 3Dfindit. It therefore does not contain detailed instructions for the individual functions and processes. The former are described in detail in the chapters on the individual modules. For special processes and procedures, please refer to the available special documentation.
Please also ask your CADENAS Project Manager if you need any advice about the CDM topics.
A detailed documentation of all topics would go behind the scope of a “smart” CDM.
The CADENASDesign Manual is essentially divided into the following sections / areas:
