In the configuration file material_assign.cfg, you set which materials are to be displayed in the PARTdataManager in the New Ident Number [new ident-no.] dialog box.

During the export to the CAD system the PARTsolutions material is mapped onto the CAD system material so that the physical properties can be calculated in the CAD system.
