2.9.  Provide dimensioning views

Dimensioning views are integrated into the project in the form of pra files in PARTproject and later displayed in the PARTdataManager technical Information [Technical details] docking window or in tooltips of preview images.

For the training example, the *.pra files $CADENAS_DATA/23d-libs/training/beginner/solutions/cap_nut/cap_nut.prj the *.pra files "cap_nut_top" and "cap_nut_side" have been stored.

Detailed information on creating *.pra files can be found under Section 5.11.2, “ Create and import/convert dimensioning views externally ” in eCATALOG 3Dfindit.

  1. Copy the pra files from .../beginner/solutions/cap_nutto .../xy (the directory you selected to create the project).

  2. Click on the name of the project file cap_nut.prj.

  3. On the Settings tab page, open the Views tab page.

  4. Under Dimensioning views, first click in the View field and select the corresponding view, then in the File with dimensioning field to specify the associated 2D file (*.pra).

  5. Repeat this for all required files. To create new lines, click on the New [New] button.

    -> The dimensioning views [Dimensioning views] are now part of the project.

    As soon as you click on one of the views (here the side view), the corresponding image file [Picture file] appears as a preview [Preview].

  6. Click in PARTproject open with PARTdataManager [Open with PARTdataManager] in the context menu of the desired project.

    In the PARTdataManager technical data [Technical details] section, you will find the inserted and correspondingly dimensioned 2D views of the cap nut.

Alternatively or additionally dimensioning views can be provided as 3db or tif files:

  • *.3db

    With PARTdesigner you can create dimensioning views [Dimensioning views] from standard views, generate the dimensioning text according to various specifications and make various additional versions available for the PARTdataManager available.

  • *.tif

    *.tif files can be created from paper catalogs by scanning, for example.
