The central service PARTapplicationServer is used for ENTERPRISE 3Dfindit, CADENAS Apps (3Dfindit), PARTcommunity Mobile and as PARTserver backend.
The user can search catalogs as usual, even if the catalog server is located at another company site. There is only ONE DATA directory.
Use cases for the PARTapplicationServer:
Use by ENTERPRISE 3Dfindit to avoid distribution and synchronization of catalog data (The PARTapplicationServer is located on the company side).
Access to the CADENAS catalog server from the company side. This saves maintenance costs for the customer. (Manufacturer catalogs on CADENAS PARTapplicationServer and own parts on an in-house PARTapplicationServer).
Access from third party systems such as CAD systems for example to the CADENAS website PARTapplicationServer, in order to directly show CADENAS content from there.

Using the PARTapplicationServer results in the following advantages:
Replicating $CADENAS_DATA not applicable
The larger the catalog database is, the more time is required for replication. By using the high-performance PARTapplicationServer, it is possible to install the catalogs at only one location and all clients - no matter at which location - connect to the PARTapplicationServer. This means that the catalog data does not have to be replicated to other locations. Should it nevertheless be advantageous for performance reasons (large parts/ZJVs), additional caching can be carried out at secondary locations using RFS or SQUID. Once downloaded, the cache retains parts until they are obsolete.
Higher security - No user access to $CADENAS_DATA
The concept with PARTapplicationServer leads to higher security: Direct, file-based access to the geometries is not possible. Direct access to $CADENAS_DATA is no longer possible. This means that users do not need to have access rights to $CADENAS_DATA.
PARTapplicationServer also for single-user installation [Single workstation installation]
The PARTapplicationServer is also used for single-user installations [Single workstation installation] (automatically started with
pdatamgr.exe). This has the advantage that the search is outsourced and can be used by all programs (for example PARTdataManager and Seamless ) on the respective machine. This means that more free RAM is available, which in turn benefits the search speed.
