This feature is officially available from version V12.12. |
Previously, an individual part consisted of a single body with a single design history. With this feature, a part can contain several solids. Each of these solids has its own history that describes how it is constructed. Instances are also available as a new level. These determine where and how a solid is placed in the room, allowing you to use the same solid multiple times, but in different positions or with different orientations.
A file can have any number of solids (1 to n). Any number of instances (0 to n) can then be created for each of these solids, which are displayed together in a component/assembly.
The great advantage of this method of working is that the component no longer requires a coherent geometry.

The output of files as MultiSolid is available in the versions supported by us. However, it is possible that the corresponding CAD system has a minimum requirement for the feature. This can be found on the respective CAD system manufacturer's website. |
ArchiCAD (Graphisoft)
Catia V6 (Dassault Systèmes)
Creo Parametric (PTC)
Autodesk Fusion (Autodesk, Inc.)
Inventor (Autodesk, Inc.)
NX (Siemens Digital)
In NX, MultiBody components are implemented using "Design Group" objects.
NX supports patterns from bodies (e.g. ball in a ball bearing): not every CAD can do this, otherwise the body instances are copied several times.
Revit (Autodesk, Inc.)
SolidEdge (Siemens PLM Software)
SolidWorks (Dassault Systèmes)

Any assembly (existing or newly created) is converted to MultiSolid and transferred to the corresponding CAD system, provided the following requirements are met and the Export assemblies as multibody checkbox is selected in the advanced export settings. |
The following requirements must be met in order to use the functionality:
The CADENAS software must be at least V12.12 or higher.
The CAD software must be installed and the interface activated in PARTadmin.
The CAD software must support the MultiSolid function.
Either: When exporting an assembly, the Export assemblies as multibody checkbox is set in the advanced export settings.
Or: When exporting an assembly, the Multisolid Body per configuration file option is set.
Detailed instructions for exporting to various CADs can be found here: Section 2.1.8, “
Transfer to CAD (with and without interface)
” in PARTsolutions - User.
Here you can find instructions for creating MultiSolids in PARTdesigner: Section 7.6.2.16, “Multi Solid
” in eCATALOG 3Dfindit.
You can find more information on exporting from 3Dfindit here: Section 5.23.5, “Set CAD format download (pappserver.cfg)
”.
Here you will find information on the configuration file: Section 3.2.12.6, “Block [CustomExec]
”.
