This classification attempts to calculate the CO² emissions caused during production, transportation and operation. In principle, this figure must be determined individually for each product instance. We describe here only the emissions of the product type (i.e. in particular the emissions from production). The associated classes are essentially taken from the ECLASS Advanced definitions and mapped 1-1 into the asset administration shell. The calculation of the carbon footprint can be carried out according to different accounting rules and therefore provide different results. A product can therefore contain several instances of the corresponding classes with different CO² values.
The corresponding data is modeled in our classification system as part of the classes CNSELEK|5|12|1|1 (Product Carbon Footprint Calculation; PCF) and CNSELEK|5|12|1|2 (Transport Footprint Calculation; TCF).
The following classification system is based on the carbon footprint classification introduced from ECLASS 13 onwards. The following figure provides a rough overview.
The product footprint (CNSELEK|5|12|1|1 ) has the following attributes for both the product itself (PCF) and transportation (TCF):
PCF/TCF calculation method; list of values describing the different permitted calculation rules for the carbon footprint (EN 15804, GHG Protocol, IEC TS 63058, IEC 63366, ISO 14040, ISO 14044, ISO 14067, PEP ecopassport) Note: Different rules may provide different results.
PCF/TCF CO²eq; CO² equivalent - total for PCF/TCF and LCA (life cycle analysis); unit: g, kg
PCF/TCF reference value for calculation; modulates the granularity of the CO² calculation; list of values: g, kg, t, ml, l, cbm, qm, number of units, kWh
PCF/TCF quantity of measure for calculation; number of product units for which this calculation is valid; real number
PCF/TCF life cycle phase; value list that models the contributions of different product phases of production and life cycle
A1 - raw material supply (and upstream production) | A1 - Rohstoffbereitstellung (und vorgelagerte Produktion)
A2 - cradle-to-gate transport to factory | A2 - Cradle-to-Gate Transport zur Fabrik
A4 - transport to final destination | A4 - Transport zum finalen Zielstandort
B5 - update/upgrade, refurbishing | B5 - Update/Upgrade, Refurbishing
B6 - usage energy consumption | B6 - Energieverbauch bei Nutzung
B7 - usage water consumption | B7 - Wasserverbrauch bei Nutzung
C3 - recycling, waste treatment | C3 - Recycling, Abfall-Handling
PCF/TCF goods address hand-over: Set of attributes for modeling the hand-over location of the life cycle phase
TCF processes for greenhouse gas emissions in a transport service; value list
In principle, each instance of a product can be assigned a set of these attributes for each life cycle phase, which records all CO² contributions like a logbook and adds them up at the end, for example. In this sense, this classification can be seen as a kind of individual logbook.
