As of V12 in the
sketcher, there are some new functions, which are summarized under the icon
Quick settings.
Snap to grid: Elements can be placed quick and precise.
If, for example, a line is drawn, start and end point are automatically placed on intersections of grid lines. A placing between grid lines can only be achieved with option turned off.
Special case for circles and angles
The activation of "Snap to grid" is performed under PARTdesigner -> Settings... -> Sketcher (feat.) -> Grid -> Scalar parameters. If the width is set to 5, for example, the circle's radius will snap at multiples of 5, regardless in which direction the mouse is moved.
If the option is enabled and you zoom in, at a certain moment the grid is automatically scaled with factor 10. On this compare the two following figures. If the option Snap to grid is enabled, this option is automatically disabled, because snapping at "wrong" points is unwanted.
In PARTdesigner -> Extras menu -> Preferences... -> Sketcher (feat.) -> Color settings -> Axis extension, the color of the axis extension can be set.
Snap to coordinate axes: If, for example, Snap to grid is turned off, but this function turned on, a line will strictly orient towards the coordinate axes, whereby the length can be freely chosen in contrast to Snap to grid.
Show live dimensions: When drawing lines or angles, lives dimensions on line length, circle diameter or angles between lines are shown.
In PARTdesigner -> Extras menu -> Preferences... -> Sketcher (feat.) -> Color settings -> Live dimensions, the color of live dimensions can be set.
