Table of contents

When you open Help, the Contents [Content] tab is displayed on the left by default so that you can open all books and sub-chapters in a targeted manner.

In the table of content, cut titles (recognizable by ...) are displayed in full length in the tooltip.

Navigation

  • Back and forth according to the sequence of the pages already accessed, you will be taken to the blue arrow keys and .

  • The Prev and Next buttons take you back and forth in terms of the structure of the contents list.

  • Clicking Up takes you to the next higher chapter in the hierarchy (the button can be found at the bottom of the page).

Press Go to top to go to the first page of the relevant manual (the button is located at the bottom of the page).

Search path (Breadcrumbs)

The search path shows where you are currently located. This is particularly helpful if you have followed cross-book links.

The path components are links, so that you can directly jump into the respective chapter.

When clicking on an arrow in the search path, all chapters below the chosen item are listed.

Index

To search using specifically indexed terms, switch from the Contents [Content] tabbed page to the Index tabbed page.

-> First, all index terms are displayed in alphabetical order.

Double-click on the desired index term or filter the index list beforehand with a search entry in the input field.

Example: Indexes filtered with the term "Partial search"

Double-click on the desired hit.

-> The search result is now displayed on the right.

Search

Enter the search term in the Search [Search...]... input field and start the search by clicking on the Return key.

On the main page, on the right, you can see hits found in the text. Click on any in order to load the respective page.

You can see the corresponding index terms on the left on the Index tab page. As soon as you click on index terms, the corresponding page is also loaded.

[Tip]Tip
  • Basic difference between full text search (right) and index search (left):

The full text search (right) is a "fuzzy" search (similarity search). You will also receive hits if the search term was not exact. This may be desirable, but it can also be annoying.

If you want to carry out an exact search, put the search term in quotation marks.

Sometimes it's better to restrict the search term, in order not to exclude results unintentionally.

For example, just use the core term or omit unimportant filler words:

Here in the example, drop "part". Then you will find "2D comparison" in addition.

Here in the example, drop "part". Then you will find "2D comparison" in addition.

  • For example, search with terms used in tooltips.

  • The index search always searches for the exact term entered. Start the search with the return key after entering just a few letters. You will receive hits if the entered term appears anywhere in the indexed term.

Reduce loaded manuals

When using the online help, all manuals are loaded and used for the search, which may lead to unwanted hits.

If you focus on working with a specific application such as eCATALOG 3Dfindit, you have the option of switching to using local help and only loading the desired manual.

Information on this can be found under Section 1.4.4, “ Help source ”.
