5.2.1. Call from PARTdesigner

Have you already modeled components with eCATALOGsolutions in previous versions? Then you will immediately notice a fundamental innovation. With V11, the PARTeditor module has been integrated into the PARTdesigner module. All PARTeditor functions are now available in PARTdesigner so that annoying switching between different work surfaces is no longer necessary. You already know comfortable working with docking windows, which you can adjust in size and position, from PARTdataManager. This functionality is now also available in the PARTdesigner is now also available. Even if you are working in one single user interface - which is more comfortable - be aware of the following facts: A parametrically structured 3D model is created. This data is also saved in the 3db file type. And a feature table is created, the values of which are used to fill the parametric 3D model. The table data is still saved in the tab or tac file type. 	When creating a model, you generally have the option of creating the model first (with fixed values or a single "prototype" table row) or the characteristic attribute table first. See also Section 7.8.11, “ Storage location: Only in geometry \| Only in table \| In geometry and table ”.

To edit the geometry or PARTdesigner to edit the geometry or characteristic attribute table, proceed as follows:

Editing the geometry

Select in PARTproject under Project selection, select the file *.3db / *.3gb.
-> In PARTproject a corresponding preview appears in the Edit project dialog area.

Click on the Edit button.
-> PARTdesigner is opened in the geometry view.

If the file still has no content, the Edit file dialog box appears. You are asked whether the .3db file shall be created. Use variable from table* If required, check the Apply variables from the table [Use variable from table] radio button so that the variables created in the tab/tac file are applied and confirm with OK.
