3.10. Update FLM server

A password assignment when saving licenses in the course of DSGVO is mandatory.

Basically applies:

  • The change to V12 does not require an update of the FLM server.

  • The server is compatible with old clients (protocol did not change basically)

  • If the server is updated to V12, then for administration only a V12 client should be used. Old clients should be avoided in general.

    • Old clients would not request a server password when saving/creating the cluster. In this way one could circumvent protected access to the server. That's why it is not supported anymore.

    • Furthermore old clients do not perform a check if licenses are correct for the cluster, which happens when clicking onSave.

In order to update the FLM server, do the following:

  1. Stop running FLM service: Close license server via Start/ Control panel/ Services/ CADENAS FLM (MASTER).

  2. Remove server from system control: Remove server via Windows Start menu -> Add or remove programs -> CADENAS FLM Server -> Uninstall.

  3. Delete files: Now you may delete these files from your hard drive. The license should - if further used - be saved beforehand.

  4. New installation: See Section 3.9, “License server installation - Request/install licenses ”.
