"Physical" folder name for catalog

The physical folder name is visible in the PARTproject Folder tree or Windows Explorer or PARTadmin -> Index management [Index administration] -> Properties context menu command.

Naming convention

  • The name must be completely written in small letters

  • If the name consists of several words, then underlines (“_”) have to be used as separator

  • Don’t include company types like “llc”, “sarl”, “sa”, etc.

  • Don't use special characters such as TM or ®, etc.

Catalog name ( PARTproject -> Catalog main folder -> General tab page)

In addition to the "physical" folder name, there is also a catalog name [Catalog name] which, after translation [Translation] (see PARTproject -> Catalog main folder -> Translation tab) the display name for the end customer in the PARTdataManager pARTcommunity and other CADENASend media.

The catalog name [Catalog name] appears again and again in many places. It is therefore important that it is short, clear and consistent.

Naming convention

  • At least the first letter must always be a capital letter (even if the supplier has e.g. a small written name in the logo)

  • If possible, capitalize all letters.

  • Don’t include company types like “LLC.”, “S.A.R.L.”, “S.A.”, etc.

  • It has to be considered, that e.g. in case of Asian companies, the name has to be translated into characters (like Kanji, etc.).

You should also be careful and always check whether a catalog with the desired name already exists. It often happens that a manufacturer is a customer of different CADENAS branches in different countries. In such a case, you should always first try to see if the manufacturers can be merged into one catalog. Only if this is absolutely impossible should the catalogs be handled separately and with a name extension in the scheme "companyname_cn" (e.g. for China), etc.
