Various calls and methods are available for a 3D search [3D Search]:
Call up the 3D search [3D Search] directly from the context menu of a search result. Details can be found at Section 5.5.2.2, “ 3D search from search result ”:
Click on the
button in the toolbar you will be taken to the following View to select different methods:
Use your own 3D model [Use own 3D model]:
Use your own model for the search. Simply drag the desired part into the designated area File here [Drop file here], use a file from the clipboard by clicking & pasting or select a part using the File selection button.
Perform the search for an individual part or part of an assembly. In each case, the settings dialog opens after loading the part.

In the Parametric 3D templates [Parametric 3D Templates] area, choose from a selection of classified templates, adjust the size and start the search. Further information can be found here: Section 5.5.2.4, “ Parametric 3D Templates ”.
Under Advanced search for geometric features, you can carry out the search based on the definition of geometric features. These are, for example, drill holes, patterns, cylindrical or flat surfaces, component size, etc.

Call up the 3D search directly from the parts view via the button. Select either or .
Search new [New search] -> The settings dialog opens.

Add to search -> The search is executed immediately and the method is added to the search input field. You can optionally open the settings dialog for the 3D search by clicking on the method and then start the search again. Details on the settings dialog can be found at Section 5.5.2.3, “ Use your own 3D model (or the one opened in 3D) ”.
