2.3.8.3.  Block [MatMAP] - Material mapping in Creo

In order that the material mapping can be executed, so that in Creo the correct material is displayed at a part transferred from PARTsolutions, the respective settings have to be performed:

Configuration file settings concern ...

Material selection in PARTdataManager

If ERP integration is available, the material is displayed in the table column MAT_NAME by default.

Depending on the respective internal company workflow, the material (together with a ERP_PDM_NUMBER) can, for example, be placed directly in PARTdataManager can be set.

The procedure in the PARTdataManager is as follows:

  1. Click on the Add data record to link database [Add dataset to link database] button.

    ERP toolbar

    ERP toolbar

-> The New Ident Number [new ident-no.] dialog box opens.

  2. Expand the list field under Material. Exactly those materials are displayed that have been created in the configuration file $CADENAS_SETUP/material_assign.cfg are created. Detailed information on material mapping can be found under Section 2.2.9, “Material mapping ”.

  3. Select a material (here in the example "steel") and confirm with OK. (As material_assign.def may be translated, the actual value displayed may be different)

-> At the selected characteristic, which is to be exported, now the desired material is displayed. (In this exemplary procedure the ERP number has been automatically generated.)

    MAT_NAME: STEEL

    MAT_NAME: STEEL

[Note]Note

All materials offered for selection in the list field should be mapped to the corresponding materials by Creo.

Material mapping

[Note]Note

Lookup directories for material definition are (in this order...):

  1. Current Directory

  2. pro_material_dir

  3. Paths configured in option [Interface] -> MaterialDirectories

The material files are stored in Creo by default at C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo x.x\Common Files\text\materials-library.

In the first step, determine the path to the material library in Creo under Block Interface, key MaterialDirectories.

This can either be the standard path or any path. Should there be more than one material library, then enter the paths comma separated.

In the second step, determine the mapping under Block MatMAP (see above). The key value is the name of the corresponding mtl file. Upper and lower case is not important.

Create exactly the keys that were defined in the configuration file material_assign.cfg or that can be the content of the MAT_NAME column.

So in this example, apply the key "Steel" among others.

Key value is the name of the corresponding mtl file.

Now the corresponding material properties are also used for PARTsolutions parts.
