5.13.2. Prepare catalog data (provided by customer as standard)

  1. Directory structure with STEP files

    Build up the directory structure as desired or derive it from your PDM / PLM / ERP system.

    Use any number of nested levels beginning with catalog over product groups, product families and projects.

    The lowest directory level is the project directory. There, the STEP (.stp) files are stored.

    The name for the project folder (e.g. "Flange type 1 ") should ideally be selected so that it can also be used as a standard number. The corresponding entries in PARTproject are made automatically.

    If there are several STEP files in the project directory, a line will appear later in the PARTdataManager a line will appear for each STEP file in the characteristics table.[a]

    If a STEP file has a color, which has been imported via Q&S, it will keep it.

    Setting a PARTcolor, FaceColor, FeatureColor or a RenderMaterial is not possible for imported parts. (Though the input masks are partly available, they have no effect.)

    For better export quality the imported STEP geometries should be solid bodies. Sheet bodies can negatively affect the part quality in the CAD system.

  2. Optionally additional PNG files for preview images

    [Note]Note

    If you use project preview images (.png) in addition, then please regard that the files have exactly the same name as the corresponding STEP (.stp) file.

    If you use additional preview images for product groups/product families, please ensure that the name of the PNG file is the same as the level for which it is to be used. In the example image above, these are the preview images for "Flanges" and "Flange type 1".

  3. Optionally additional CSV files

    If you use CSV files with data for the characteristic attribute table in addition then please regard that the CSV file has the same name as the corresponding STEP file.

    All CSV files to build the table have to be created according to the following scheme:

    1. rowVariable name
    2. rowVariable description
    3. rowUnit
    4. rowVariable value

    If there is no unit or value available then leave the field empty.

    Avoid special characters and umlauts.

    Minus, underline and empty space are allowed.

    If a table is available in CSV format, it is evaluated and all variables are created 1:1. You can configure which columns in the table are displayed in PARTdataManager or PARTproject.

    If you do not use an additional CSV file, a table with an automatically generated "NAME " column is created. This contains the document name.

    The information for the standard number [Standard number], standard title [Standard title], standard designation [Standard name] and parts list designation [Description for BOM] is generated either automatically or by reference to a table column.

    The following statements are used by default if there is no explicit reference made to a table variable in the setting options.

    • Standard number (NN)

      Default: Name of project folder

    • Standard title (NT)

      Default: Empty.

      If there is a CSV file and in the setting options a variable ($<variable name>.) is referenced then thereby the Standard title (NT) is created, otherwise this information is not displayed.

    • Standard name (NB)

      Default: Relative path of the input file.

      <Product group> - <Project> - <Document name>
